art workshops

I am an artists/illustrator (BA Hons) as well as a qualified teacher of Art & Design. I’ve been teaching since 2004, the last 8 years on a self employed basis running art clubs and workshops as well as working as an artist/illustrator.

I offer the following:
Term time After school art clubs (Art Starz) (local to HD8 area)
KS1, KS2 & KS3 Art activities to various schemes using mixed media.  £6 per child per 1 hour session. Maximum 16 children per group & a minimum of 8 to go ahead. Block booking and pre payment required via parentpay, bacs or cheque. All materials provided by myself and the children take their work home each week.

Artist led Art days in school
Follow a theme/skills from the curriculum or inspiration from a book, world book day other national days of celebration, work in the style of a famous artist or work inspired by my collage illustration pieces if looking at local artists. Prep, arty worksheets & planning included, materials provided by the school

Murals for windows and walls within educational setting
Theme of your choice; book characters, local area maps, positive affirmations and quotes, healthy eating illustrations, wellbeing rooms,  school mottos & logos and more! materials included.

Art & Design CPD INSET sessions for primary teachers
Transferring skills, activities to inform, help gain confidence and to learn how to teach specific elements of art & design using the techniques and medium of your choice.
Planning, prep and worksheets jpeg/power point provided.
Materials provided by school (usually most things you’d have in school in preparation for teaching these lessons)
Usually 1-1.5 hours

Team building/team treat Art workshops
Several themes and drawings to choose from to recreate.
Materials provided (canvas, paints & other relevant materials, aprons, table coverings etc)

Jane came to our school to provide CPD for the teachers and support staff from Year 1 – Year 6. It was a thoroughly enjoyable session where the skills involved in drawing still life using charcoal and chalk were taught. Jane provided all of the still life objects, the only resources we needed were charcoal, chalks and sugar paper. Throughout the session Jane gave encouragement to us all and she was able to give us advice on how to develop our own skills, as well as how we can help the children develop their skills. She had carefully planned out the session so that the skills were suitable for KS1 and KS2 and could be adapted to suit the themes in each year group. Everyone who attended the training came away feeling more confident and excited about teaching drawing with their class. Since Jane’s visit, many members of staff have said how much they enjoyed the session and we are really looking forward to the next session on portraiture.
