window murals
Spring 2025
I was asked Kirklees regeneration team to create art work in several empty shop windows in Huddersfield town centre to brighten up and tired area of Byram Street.
The brief was to create a sense of community and pride and to come up with some design ideas alongside a window to represent the LGBTQ+ community of Huddersfield.
I researched history, heritage, the beautiful architecture, the arts and entertainment, the people and communities and the landmarks and countryside as they are fundamentally what make Huddersfield the place it is! I had the idea for a trail to engage and interest the public. Kirklees suggested a lion trail as there are several lion sculptures and engravings across the many historical listed buildings.
Here are some photographs of the themed windows with ‘find the lion’ trail illustrations.
This is phase 1. I will update the website over the summer when phase 2 is complete.
